OUTPUT SETTINGS

Choose your file size

1 KB = 1,000 bytes. We’ll aim for this size or less.

PNG keeps transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with white.

We may reduce dimensions to reach your target.
You always get to preview the result.

Ready when you are. Your photo never leaves this device.

HOW IT WORKS

Compress an image in three steps

01

Pick your photo

A holiday snap, a profile picture, a form attachment. Start with a JPEG, PNG or WebP.

02

Set your size

Choose a maximum file size. We balance quality and dimensions to get it as close as we can.

03

Preview & keep

Check the detail, compare the sizes, and download your new image. Your original stays untouched.

YOUR PHOTOS ARE PERSONAL

They should stay that way.

Your browser does all the work. Photo files are never uploaded, stored on a server, or sent to an image service. No accounts, cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts. We don’t save your images in browser storage either.

The site host can receive normal page requests (including your IP address), but not your photos. Image previews live in temporary browser memory and are released when replaced or when you leave. Downloaded files stay wherever you save them.

HELP

Frequently asked questions

Will my photo still look good?

JPEG and WebP use lossy compression; fine detail may change. We try higher quality first, then lower quality and smaller dimensions as needed. PNG uses lossless encoding, but resizing still changes pixels. Compare both previews before downloading.

Can you guarantee an exact file size?

No. We use a bounded search to try to stay under your maximum, not match it exactly. If the target cannot be reached, we show the smallest result found and clearly label it as over target. Tiny targets can make images too small to be useful.

What happens to transparency and animation?

PNG and WebP output retain transparency. Converting either to JPEG requires your agreement to a white background. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected; GIF, HEIC, SVG and other formats are not supported.

What about rotation, metadata and large photos?

Modern browsers apply the image’s orientation when decoding. Check the preview before saving. Canvas re-encoding generally removes EXIF metadata, including GPS, but this is not a forensic metadata removal tool. Colors can vary by browser. Files are limited to 20 MB, 24 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per edge to protect device memory; some devices have lower limits.

Why might compression fail?

A damaged file, unsupported browser codec, or insufficient device memory can prevent processing. Try a smaller still image or a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari browser. WebP encoding support varies; we report unsupported output instead of silently changing formats.
